Greater Victoria's Regional Program
Our ongoing focus
The Greater Victoria program focuses on supporting grapegrowers, winemakers and wine businesses in Victoria to be able to 'connect, extend and challenge' their operational thinking and decision making. The program activities change each year and are developed with guidance from Wine Victoria's Technical Committee. A diverse representative group of growers and makers from across Greater Victoria.
About the Regional Program
The Regional Program is a key initiative of Wine Australia, focused on actively encouraging and supporting research and innovation in the Australian wine sector.
The aim of the program is simple: To help grape growers and winemakers adopt new research findings, tools and innovations that improve performance, resilience and long-term competitiveness.
Activity in the greater Victorian program aims to -
- Translate research into practical application
- Encourage adoption of innovation
- Strengthen vineyard and winery decision-making
- Support climate resilience and sustainability
- Improve business performance at a regional level
Priority Areas
At Wine Victoria we are currently focusing on three priority areas as part of the regional program to address sustainability and innovation outcomes as part of the Victorian Wine Strategy. This ties into the regional program through our education programs we run annually with growers and makers.
The Role of the Annual Field Days
The Annual Field Days are a key part of Wine Victoria’s Regional Program, bringing grapegrowers and winemakers together across two Victorian locations.
They explore emerging technologies, showcase sustainable practices in action, and share insights on what works under Victorian conditions. Through expert presentations, in-field demonstrations and peer discussion, participants gain practical, regionally relevant knowledge they can apply in their own businesses.
Member Benefits
The Regional Program is exclusively for Victorian grapegrowers and winemakers and ensures that research investment flows back to Victorian through the levy model in a tangible, practical way.
Wine Victoria remains committed to ensuring Regional Program funding is delivered in a way that provides clear value to Greater Victorian growers and makers.
Get Involved
The Regional Program is open to Wine Victoria members and the broader Victorian wine community.
