Victorian Wine Makes Its Mark in Canada
Victorian wine made its mark in Canada this October, with trade tastings and sold-out masterclasses in Toronto and Vancouver showcasing 37 Victorian wineries across 14 regions.
Led and delivered by Wine Victoria in partnership with Global Victoria, the program brought Victorian wines to Canadian agents, LCBO and BC Liquor representatives, sommeliers, media and retailers.
Comparative blind tastings challenged expectations, placing Victorian wines alongside benchmark wines from France's Burgundy, Bordeaux and Rhône regions, and sparking an enthusiastic response from the trade.
This was Wine Victoria's second visit to Canada in 2026, responding to strong trade demand for more Victorian wines in the Canadian market. A fantastic turnout and continued engagement reinforced that appetite.

Victorian Wine in the Canadian Spotlight
Victoria's growing presence in Canada has also attracted media attention, with Canadian publications exploring the quality, regional diversity and people behind Victorian wine.
In The Globe and Mail, wine journalist Christopher Waters reported on Wine Victoria's October trade events, highlighting the comparative blind tastings and the importance of introducing Canadian buyers to the breadth of Victorian wine styles.
The article explored Victoria's fine-wine credentials and regional diversity, including how Victorian Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and other varieties were presented alongside benchmark French wines.
Beyond the trade events, The Globe and Mail's Style Magazine featured an exploration of Victoria's wine regions by Canadian writer Corey Black, describing the Yarra Valley as a “wine lover's paradise”.
The feature takes readers through the Yarra Valley, Alpine Valleys and Gippsland, sharing the stories of winemakers and the distinctive approaches shaping Victoria's wine regions.
Canadian wine publication Advinetures also offered a fresh perspective on Victorian wine following a Wine Victoria-hosted dinner in Vancouver. The article explored Victoria's regional and varietal diversity through food and wine pairings, highlighting the breadth of styles available beyond traditional perceptions of Australian wine.
Together, these stories offer Canadian audiences an opportunity to discover more about Victoria's wine regions, producers and the diversity of wines we produce.
