Wine Victoria Meets with Minister Ros Spence Ahead of Strategic Plan Launch
Wine Victoria Chair Dan Sims and CEO Stephanie Duboudin recently met with the Hon. Ros Spence, Minister for Agriculture, ahead of the upcoming launch of the Victorian Wine Strategic Plan — a key initiative developed by Agriculture Victoria in collaboration with the Victorian wine industry.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present an overview of the current state of the industry and highlight our members' key priorities, particularly around trade development and the extension and adoption of best practices across the sector.
Discussions also included the importance of continued support from the Department of Agriculture for the newly established Grape and Wine Development Officer role at Wine Victoria.
New Grape and Wine Development Lead to Support Victorian Wine Industry
Wine Victoria is pleased to announce the creation of a new Grape and Wine Development Lead role, designed to support Victorian grape growers and winemakers with practical, regionally relevant advice and technical support.
The Hon. Ros Spence, Minister for Agriculture, announced a $400,000 investment in partnership with Wine Australia to enable Wine Victoria to deliver the knowledge, tools and resources needed to help the industry improve practices and outcomes across the state. The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) has released its 32nd edition of Agrochemicals registered for use in Australian viticulture, commonly known as the ‘Dog book’. Updated yearly to align with each growing season, the booklet is a reference guide for grapegrowers and wineries to ensure the safe and timely application of agrochemical treatments.

Changes to Planning Requirements for Remote Seller's Liquor Licences

Young Farmer Upskill and Invest Scholarship
Young Farmer Upskill and Invest Scholarship
The Young Farmers Upskill and Invest Scholarship is an opportunity to invest in you and your career. Up to $10,000 is available per scholarship:
- up to $5000 towards study
- up to $5000 to invest in putting new skills into practice, with professional development, business planning or other on-farm activities.
The scholarship program is designed to be flexible and to fit with the demands and ambitions of young farmers and farm workers.
Since the start of the program in 2015, the Minister for Agriculture has awarded scholarships to 133 young farmers. Each year, 12 to 14 schol May 2025.
