Update from the Executive Officer - Rachael Sweeney

At our industry consultation session in October the future of Wine Victoria was very unclear.

I am pleased to say that despite the obvious financial stress the industry is experiencing, through our engagement and at the Wine Victoria AGM there was solid support for the Association to continue.

Moving into 2014 we have a new Chair, Damien Sheehan, have received additional funding from our larger companies and there is agreement for a new membership model. More information on this and our AGM can be found here.

These new arrangements set Wine Victoria up for the all-important State election year in 2014. Our Victorian Government and Opposition have already begun to engage the Victorian community on their vision and future priorities for the next four years.

In 2014, Wine Victoria will be working hard to rise above the noise of competing stakeholders to make sure that both sides of politics understand the value of a strong wine industry and the role they can play to support growth and a return to profitability for our industry.

The action plan we proposed in October will provide a platform for our engagement, details can be found here.

We would like industry's feedback on these priority areas and any key issues that you see are important to address within these areas. Please send your comments or submissions to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Finally, I would like to thank our Board and membership for the support they have shown me in my first year as Executive Officer. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of an industry that is such an important contributor to Victoria's economic and cultural future.

From my family to yours, may you have a very happy and safe festive season and I look forward to working with you all in 2014.
