Tourism – an update from Mr John Eren MP

Wine enthusiasts need look no further than a visit to Victoria. This November sees the 13th Toast to the Coast, a major festival saluting more than 25 wineries from across the Geelong region that showcases their premium wines.

Labor knows how important the tourism industry is to Victoria. It's worth $20 billion and supports hundreds of thousands of Victorian jobs. We can grow this industry by collaborating with the tourism sector, investing in planning, marketing and infrastructure.

Victoria is home to some of Australia's truly iconic wine regions. There are over 800 wineries in Victoria with more wine producers than any other state, but we cannot take our world-renowned industry for granted.

We need to develop plans to manage these destinations, so tourists are drawn to the attraction and have reason to return. One of Labor's priorities is to expand Victoria's major events calendar, attracting events that boost the economy and employ more Victorians.
