September update from the Chair - Damien Sheehan

In August Wine Victoria met with over 20 Victorian Government ministers, members and department representatives.

Key briefings have included the office of the Premier, the Deputy Premier and Minister for Agriculture, Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Agriculture and various government members and deputy secretaries.

In addition, we also held meetings with key stakeholders including the Victorian Farmers Federation and members of the Food and Wine Tourism Advisory Council.

The purpose of these meetings was to brief the Government on industry's policy priorities, and to highlight the opportunities in which we could partner with government. As a result we have already seen some pleasing outcomes including a commitment of $500,000 towards an In bound Wine Trade Mission aimed at bringing buyers to Victoria's wine regions in 2015.

As part of Wine Victoria's 2014 election strategy, we are now looking ahead to the November state election and completing the remaining schedule of engagement activities set down by the Wine Victoria Board.

We look forward to what will be a busy conclusion to 2014 and will update you on our activities as they progress.
