Wine Victoria extends a warm welcome to new Board member, Roger Sharp of Treasury Wine Estates.
With a goal of making a real difference in the wine industry, Roger plans to leverage his position as Director Group Corporate Affairs to help Wine Victoria showcase the very best of Victorian wine.
"I believe we can do great things for both the Victorian and wider Australian wine industry," he said.
Roger believes we must tackle threats to the future of Victorian wine head on, particularly from those who try to overly restrict industry's license to operate and sees plenty of opportunity when it comes to standing up for the overwhelming majority of Victorians who enjoy wine responsibly.
"Wine's contribution to Victoria's culture, economy and rural communities shouldn't be underestimated."
Besides a taste for Seppelt's Sparkling Shiraz and an even stronger affinity for Coldstream Hill's Pinot Noir, politics is also something that runs in Roger's blood. He has had the opportunity to work with both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown and met with political icons Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton.
Welcome to the team Roger!
