
The purpose of the taskforce is to develop a food strategy to position Victoria as the 'food bowl' to Asia. Premier Napthine said that by the year 2050, Asia's consumer class would be set to reach three billion people.
"This presents an enormous opportunity for the Victorian food industry and the State's economy", he said.
The taskforce has been given the responsibility to develop and identify practical actions to form the basis of a 'Food and Agriculture into Asia' Strategy.
Made up of government ministers and business leaders, the group is comprised of industry leaders from across the food supply chain. Together they bring expertise in primary production, food processing, logistics, branding, investment and exporting to Asian markets.
